These terms apply to orders placed with Hobby Hen Farms through hobbyhenfarms.com. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to them.
Who we are
Hobby Hen Farms, 1550 Valley Home Rd., Morristown, TN 37813, United States. Email hello@hobbyhenfarms.com.
The service
We test dried blood samples from chickens and report, for each bird you register, the tests you selected: DNA sex, and the lavender, recessive white, frizzle and blue egg gene tests. Prices are shown on the Pricing page: sexing is $8 per test, or $7 per test when an order has 29 or more sexing tests; gene tests are priced per bird as listed. Prices may change, but the price shown when you pay is the price you pay.
Your account
You need an account to order and to view results. Keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for orders placed through it.
Ordering and samples
- Register each bird with its own Bird ID and pay online. Then collect and mail the samples exactly as described on the Instructions page.
- Each sample must be labeled with the same Bird ID you registered. We cannot test samples we cannot match to an order.
- Samples should arrive within 30 days of the order. Dried blood spots are only reliable for about a month.
- You are responsible for mailing costs and for the samples until they reach us.
Turnaround and results
Results are usually released within 24 hours of your samples arriving, but that is a typical time, not a guarantee. Results appear on your My Batches page and we email you when they are ready.
Refunds
You may cancel for a full refund any time before your samples reach us. Once samples arrive, payment is not refundable. If a sample does not produce a result, we rerun it at no charge when enough blood remains. If the rerun also fails, this is almost always due to how the sample was collected (too little blood, not fully dried, contamination, or no legible Bird ID), and no refund or free replacement test is given. Follow the Instructions page carefully to avoid this.
Accuracy and limits
DNA testing is very reliable when samples are collected correctly, but no test is perfect. Each gene test detects only the specific gene variant described on the Pricing page; it does not detect other genes that can produce a similar appearance. Results depend on the quality of the sample and on each sample being labeled with the correct Bird ID. Results are provided for your information in managing your flock. Our total responsibility for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the version posted when you place an order applies to that order. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee.
